10.03.14 for immediate release: Local MP, Greg Barker, was quizzed about his job as a local MP by primary school councillors during a ‘Question Time’ session at Stone Cross Primary School last Friday.

After meeting Headteacher Mrs Allison, Greg was given a tour of the school by Chair of Governors, Mr Ken Saxby, whilst the pupils were all hard at work in their classrooms. Greg was particularly impressed by the school’s circular ICT suite where a Year 3 class were learning how to create a computer programme.

Following the tour Greg joined Deputy Head, Mrs Clements, and members of the school council for a Q&A session about the House of Commons and the life of an MP.

Speaking at the school, Greg said “I was very impressed by Stone Cross School. It’s easy to tell why it’s so popular with the local parents. The learning environment throughout the school was calm and friendly and the children were particularly polite and well-behaved and clearly enjoying learning.  I was especially interested to see 7 and 8 year olds learning the basics of computer programming in their wonderful ICT suite.”

“The School Council had lots of challenging questions for me about the Houses of Parliament and the role of an MP. I now look forward to welcoming them to the Palace of Westminster for a tour very soon.”
