Bexhill and Battle MP, Greg Barker is asking local residents to help keep their communities and villages safe by informing the police of any anti-social or criminal behaviour going on in their area, following his recent meeting with Rother District Commander, Chief Inspector Katy Woolford.

Greg was pleased to learn that crime rates have fallen in Rother by 5.3% compared to the same time last year. However, CI Woolford is keen to ensure that her officers and resources are in the right place to tackle any crime and anti-social behaviour in across Rother. She told Greg that the engagement of local people with the police is vital as residents are the “eyes and ears” of their local communities.

Operation Blitz is especially important in tackling anti-social behaviour which often increases during the summer months as the evenings are lighter. Local people can sign up to Operation Blitz by emailing their local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) on [email protected], [email protected] or by calling 101.

Following his meeting with CI Woolford, Greg said “I am pleased to learn that crime rates have significantly reduced across Bexhill and Battle over the last three years. However, we cannot be complacent and each of us has a role to play in ensuring that our communities remain safe. I would strongly encourage you to take advantage of the Community Messaging scheme run by Sussex Police and report any incidents, suspicious activity or anti-social behaviour.”

Non-emergency incidents can be reported to Sussex Police online at www.sussex.police.uk, telephone number 101 or by email to [email protected]. To sign up to Community Messaging visit www.sussex.police.uk/your-neighbourhood/community-messaging or email your local NPT. To find out when Operation Blitz is in your area contact your Neighbourhood Policing Team via email or 101.

For all emergencies call 999 immediately.
