HUW RESPONDS TO CONCERNS ABOUT PEVENSEY BAY LIBRARY

15.06.2015 for immediate release: Local MP, Huw Merriman, and Wealden District Councillors, Lin Carter and Dianne Dear have promised to find out what the future holds for Pevensey Bay Library when they met concerned residents at his drop-in surgery last Friday

During his ‘Meet Your MP’ event at Pevensey Bay Baptist Church, local residents asked Huw, Lin and Dianne to help them find out when their library will re-open.  Villagers fear that their library, which was closed in January due to flooding, may never re-open and they will be left without this important local amenity.

Speaking in Pevensey, Huw said “Pevensey and Westham residents told me that they are very worried about the future of their local library. Many of them can’t get to alternative libraries and they miss this community hub. I will be writing to East Sussex County Council to ask for more information about the timescales for re-opening Pevensey Bay Library and for regular updates for local residents.”
