GREG SUPPORTS MORE ACTION TO DEAL WITH RAGWORT

 

11.9.2012 For immediate release: Bexhill and Battle MP, joined Wealden District Councillor Pam Doodes and a concerned resident of Ninfield to see the extent of the local ragwort problem for himself last Saturday.

 

The toxins in ragwort are dangerous to both animals and humans if ingested and pose a threat to the countryside if not controlled.  Along with local authorities and agencies, local landowners have a duty to keep their land clear of this weed which must be pulled and safely disposed of to prevent the seeds spreading.

 

Speaking in Ninfield, Greg said “I was very concerned to see the spread of ragwort in Ninfield and Hooe and fully support Cllr Doodes in her campaign to raise local awareness of this problem.   I should like to remind local landowners of their responsibility to identify and remove ragwort from their land before seeds are set.  I shall also be raising this
