Local MP, Greg Barker, welcomed the plans of the East Sussex Association for Blind and Partially Sighted People (ESAB) to make the latest technology available to local blind and partially sighted people when he met their new Chief Executive, Daniel Brookbank at Herstmonceux.

ESAB is planning on making Kindle books and downloads available to their clients as well as continuing to supply music, books and talking newspapers on traditional tape cassettes and CDs.

Mr Brookbank explained the growing interest in IT amongst his clients, including the elderly, as it is a great means of communication and entertainment.  ESAB offers IT courses to their clients amongst the other essential life skills to help them retain their independence and confidence following loss of vision.

Greg, who is Vice Patron of the East Sussex charity, commented “I am delighted that ESAB continues to be a forward-looking charity, aware of the needs and challenges facing the visually impaired in East Sussex today.  By harnessing the latest developments in IT they are providing greater flexibility to their clients to help them to retain their independence despite their disability.”
